Faculty at Chicago State University, Governors State University, and Eastern Illinois University are on strike. Faculty at Northeastern Illinois University have recently voted to authorize a strike. Faculty at SIU-Edwardsville, currently in the midst of rocky negotiations for a new contract, yesterday staged a sit-in. The FA stands in solidarity with our colleagues elsewhere fighting for fair and equitable contracts and for the future of public education in Illinois. We recognize that our colleagues’ fight is our fight. Our current contract expires in 2024, and like our colleagues at Chicago State, Governors State, Eastern Illinois, Northeastern Illinois, and SIUE, we are long overdue for meaningful raises. What comes of these strikes will certainly shape our next negotiations. So, on Wednesday, April 19 from 5-6:30pm via zoom (invitation below), the FA will host an open forum on the current Illinois public universities strike wave and what it means for us. Please join us.
