The SIUC Faculty Association will, in working with the SIU Board of Trustees, administration, students, staff, and the community at large, take appropriate actions to accomplish the following on behalf of the Faculty we represent and the students we serve:
- SIUC’S MISSION
Protect SIUC’s unique identity as a nationally and internationally recognized Carnegie Doctoral/Research – Extensive University and THE center of excellence in teaching, research / creative activities, and service in Southern Illinois. - FACULTY POSITIONS
Retain existing Faculty through increased pay and significantly increase the number of tenured and tenure track Faculty positions at SIUC to preserve continuity in the quality of our students’ education
- SHARED GOVERNANCE
Strengthen the Faculty’s role in decision-making processes including but not limited to budgetary decisions, intellectual property rights and program changes within the university.
- WORKING CONDITIONS
Secure for the Faculty the resources and space to carry out their obligations to teach, research, and to serve their professional and local communities.
- WORKLOAD
Address workload issues – fairness in assigning workloads, equity across campus and teaching overloads.
- SALARIES AND FRINGE BENEFITS
Increase the salaries and fringe benefits of Faculty to parity with those of their peers, in their disciplines, at similar Carnegie Doctoral/Research – Extensive institutions, and achieve salary and fringe benefits equity at SIUC.
